No label or further information is contained within the art or on the album itself; whatever cutout carving was etched in was gutted from the vinyl. Previously unreleased music by a late '60s San Francisco band who have a track on one of the 'Nuggets From The Golden State' CDs. Superb West Coast psychedelic rock with great guitar work and perfect sound quality. The usual excellent packaging from Rockadelic... Yet another Rockadelic discovery, "Gold" is one of those projects that takes a little effort to get into. Apparently recorded and shelved in 1969, the set has a distinctive late 1960s West Coast feel to it. It's certainly not the most ground breaking LP you'll ever buy, but is kind of interesting for the decent male/female singers and it's mix of musical styles. bouncing between rather conventional hard rock (the crazed opener "No Parking" and "Summer Dresses"), Latin-rock influences (the instrumental "Conquistadore"), and an occasional soul touch thrown in. HUNGER STRICTLY FROM HUNGER/LOST ALBUM 2LP BOX SET ARTIST: hunger TITLE: strictly from hunger/the lost album LABEL: akarma, italy CAT#: ak 045; ak 045/2 YEAR: 1996 CONDITION: cover: vg++/records: vg++ NOTES: nice double set of these two excellent lps (both housed in the usual high quality akarma record jackets and pressed on heavy vinyl), packaged together in a black slip case... Both versions of the 'Strictly From Hunger' album by the legendary US '60s LA psych band. The original release is here joined by the previously unreleased version featuring Strawberry Alarm Clock guitarist Ed King. Includes the brilliant 'Workshop' and 'Mind Machine' plus other great cuts. Trippy lyrics and spacey organ/guitar garage psych complete with psych effects.... This box set is highly limited, with the original album in the full colour sleeve and the unreleased album in a beautiful gatefold, which suffers from surface noise due to the acetate it is taken from. Both are housed in a black slip case. A truly stunning package. |
